Are you missing some or all of your permanent teeth? Our dentist may recommend dentures to restore your smile. Dentures are removeable appliances that can act as a partial or full set of teeth. They are placed on the gums and may be attached to the remaining natural teeth.

What Are the Different Types of Dentures? Full dentures are used if all of the permanent teeth are missing. A flesh-colored base with replacement teeth attached is placed over the gums. If only some teeth are missing, a partial denture is used. Partial dentures are often attached to the existing teeth with metal clasps.

How Are Dentures Made? After Dr. Donald Hermansen determines what type of denture is right for you, your denture can be designed and created. This process takes a few weeks and several appointments. To design and prepare your denture, several impressions are made of your jaw. In addition, measurements are taken of how your jaws relate to each other. Using these measurements and impressions as a guide, models are made in the exact position and shape of your future denture. Our dentist will have you try on the model so that the shape, fit, and color of the denture can be checked. Any needed adjustments will be made and then the final denture is cast. Once your denture is ready, the fit, color, and shape will be checked once more and any final adjustments are made as needed.
